[The] new national interest in poetry has made room for
poets like Jim Drury. He is deeply rooted in the local yet his poems are
universal in scope. He brings the good news and the bad with humility and good
humor. We are lucky, and maybe something a bit more, that he has become one of
our indispensable singers.
