Holy Week Blessings
Dear ---,
Yes, all this week's events come too soon. Yes, we lost all those
wonderful and lovely Epiphany season lessons. Yes, everything will seem
compressed all the way to Pentecost. But now that it is here, we enter
into Holy Week fully, with our earts open, and with one simple
destination always in sight: the Cross of Christ. On the cross, Christ
utters the words that change the world. "Father, forgive them, for they
know not what they do."This is where we
are headed. This is where every dismissal points us, the journey on
which our feet are set every Sunday when an assisting minister
proclaims, "Go in peace. Serve the Lord." And the people respond:
"THANKS BE TO GOD." Thanks. be. to. God. Let it be so. Amen.
Forgive them. Love them. Feed them. Care for them. Pray for them. Touch
them. In the Father's name and with the same almost-to-the-last breath
Jesus will use as he looks down. This is our Holy Week.
Blessings and grace surround you all this Holy Week. May your journey
from Palm to Passion to Meal to Resurrection surprise fill your hearts
and bring you into the light of Christ.
Sincerely,
Jim |
